VOTE CAT!

READ THE 2025 VOTER’S GUIDE FOR ANIMAL WELFARE HERE

City leaders must be held accountable for the decisions they have made to put animals in harm’s way. Caring for animals at large is a government responsibility–the budget the city has is more than sufficient to care for all stray animals in need while also providing medical care and adoption services.

Choosing to leave kittens that can be easily socialized on the streets to add to the number of feral cats in our community is irresponsible. Likewise, attempting to change the law to allow city employees to put pets back on the streets rather than require them to provide appropriate services shows the city should not be in the business of running a shelter.

Cats do not have a voice to speak up–be their voice and tell your current leadership your expectations for pets and your tax dollars. Every acting city leader listed as current on the list below has voted to end the contract with Furry Friends Refuge, voted for allowing city employees to return pet cats and kittens to the streets, and has refused to have any discussions regarding their decisions and the lack of services for pets in West Des Moines.

Tell them to SAVE WDM CATS!
